Q: Can I sell you old broken jewelry items?

A: Yes. This is considered scrap jewelry. We can use it! We buy all gold, platinum, silver items. We pay the highest in Florida for Gold.

Q: Are you licensed to buy jewelry, gold, sterling silver and platinum?

A: Yes we are. We follow all state regulations regarding buying and selling of jewelry, gold, silver and diamonds. We display all state licensing in our office and at gold parties. We require legal state identification from all sellers to comply with rules provided by the State of Florida. If possible, please provide ownership documents or bill of sale for the pieces that you are selling. Florida law requires us to fingerprint when purchasing undocumented pieces.

Q. What about all those ads on the internet and in the paper from people wanting to buy gold and jewelry. Are they legal if they aren't licensed?

A. In the State of Florida people who buy Jewelry not for their own personal use, but who re-sell or send to refiners are required to register and be licensed thru the state. This prevents "fencing operations" from popping up. These unlicensed buyers won't ask for identification, usually don't declare their business to the IRS and work around current laws. They are "middlemen" They historically pay less than licensed buyers and then try to sell the items they do buy to licensed buyers. We urge people to cut out these middle men and come straight to the licensed recyclers of precious metals.

Q: How do I sell Jewelry to you?

A: Make an appointment to visit our office or set a day and time for a private visit to your home or office to have your items evaluated. We usually can reserve a time for you that day or any day and time that works best for you. This assures each client can have his items evaluated in a calm, unhurried manner. Our goal is to decrease the stress as much as possible for you. All items are weighed on a state accepted scale & tested for metal content. All diamonds and gemstones are evaluated by one of our GIA Graduate Gemologist for carat weight, clarity, color and cut.
In many instances If the buy price is agreeable we pay cash right then, but prefer to pay by check and have you go to our bank (Washington Mutual) to cash it..

Q: How quickly do I get Paid?

A: Instant payment

Q: How can your company say you pay the "best price" ?

A: We are confident that the prices that we pay for scrap gold, platinum and sterling silver are some of the highest in the industry. We are in a unique situation where we are in need of bulk gold to produce jewelry items. Most buyers of gold will send their gold to refiners for payment. Refiners then sell to Jewelry makers. We are cutting out this middle man, buying gold direct from the public. We send this gold for cleaning and refining to be used in our jewelry products.

Our appraisers and evaluators are very experienced in evaluating fine jewelry. If you have a fine diamond or colored stone we can recognize it quickly and pay accordingly. We don't simply "buy per point"

We pay a premium for signed and fine vintage jewelry items such as Art Deco or Edwardian items. These are evaluated for the collectors market carefully, especially if they contain old mine cut diamonds of high color and clarity.

Q. If I don't have a legal state photo ID will Unique & Precious still buy my items?

A. Florida State regulations regarding the buying and selling of precious metals clearly states that all sellers must provide a legal state ID and provide a thumb print to complete the transaction. This protects the community against the establishment becoming an outlet for stolen items. We are only interested in items sold by the owner of the item. Good rules, good business, good community.

Q. What is meant by "refining" gold?

A. All of the gold and silver that is recovered from scrap must, eventually, be purified in order to produce new products. The purification step is called re-fining. You could also say, making it Fine again. This term, refining, is wrongly used to represent ALL of the process steps. However, it only refers to the final purification. The purity of gold or silver is sometimes expressed in "Fineness". This is defined as the number of parts of gold or silver per 1000 parts of the total weight. For example, 999 Fine gold means that, if the total weight of the object represents 1000 parts, 999 of these parts are gold and, the other part is impurities. In the trade, 999 fine gold is called three nines gold.
The market price of each type of metal only represents certain levels of purity, or Fineness.
If the purity is equal to or above that level, the metal can be sold for close to the market. If less purity, the buyer will pay much less than market, because, someone will have to further re-fine it, which costs money. For gold, this threshold purity is, today, 999.9 Fine. This is also called 99.99% gold or four nines gold. It used to be 999.5
